our 2017 season

“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”

Each of us possesses an unending power to enact meaningful change with the drive, the talents, & the hearts we have inside of us at this very moment. In our fourth season, we are seeking to promote awareness & assist in erasing the stigma associated with mental illness. If we were to stand upon the table of any restaurant, at any place in the country, at any time of the day & call out, asking patrons to raise their hands if their life has been affected by mental illness (whether in themselves, their family, in the community they resided in, or in the country they call home), we are certain each individual would have a hand raised.

It is infinitely important to us, as artists, that we facilitate the change of perception in physical vs. mental illness, that we speak openly about mental health, & that we advocate for mental health reform. We will be donating 100% of profits from our event to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (more about their work here) & to the Chris Atwood Foundation (more about their work here).

Our show this season will function as a fundraiser for each of these organizations, & will feature premiere works choreographed by our Artistic Directors Ayley, Hannah, & Sadie Johnson that will be screened on film. This show will also feature video works by choreographers from around the country, as well as musicians, public speakers, & local artists & business owners.

This fundraiser will be held August 18th, 2017 at the Publik Warehouse in Salt Lake City. Details to follow.

If you are interested in becoming involved with our event, we would be absolutely honored to have you. You may contact us here!

No one should have to suffer in the darkness any longer. We hope to do a small part in changing that. Much love from The Starry Eyed on your journey, wherever you are. ***
